Chief Executive Officer
During his career spanning more than thirty (30) years, Mr. Cortright has been both a co-owner and managing member of numerous financial services businesses. Prior to founding DriveWealth, Mr. Cortright served as a partner in Tachyon Capital Management, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. He was also a co-founder of TAB Networks, Inc., a Delaware corporation, and served as Co-Chief Executive Officer from October 2009 until July 2012. In 2001 he co-founded FX Solutions, LLC, a foreign currency trading business, and served as Co-Chief Executive Officer until May 2009. FX Solutions was named to the Inc. 500 list of fast growing private companies for three consecutive years for having achieved average three-year-trailing revenue growth rates of 1,571%, 744% and 612% for 2005, 2006 and 2007, respectively. In 2007 Francisco Partners, a private equity firm based in San Francisco, CA, invested $156 million in FX Solutions, based on a $255 million enterprise valuation. Mr. Cortright was also co-founder of Financial Labs LLC, a high frequency principal trading business that achieved profitability within 12 months of launch, and was purchased by Bank of America in 2006 at an enterprise value of $43 million. In total, FX Solutions and Financial Labs created approximately $300 million in shareholder value on $4.3 million of aggregate invested capital.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Cortright served in a variety of high-level positions at prominent Wall Street firms, including Credit Suisse A.G., First Chicago Advisory Group, and Merrill Lynch. In recognition of his success as co-founder of FX Solutions, in 2009 Mr. Cortright was named co-winner of the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in New Jersey.
Mr. Cortright received a B.A. in Biochemistry and an M.B.A. from Lehigh University. He holds FINRA/NFA Series 3, 7, 24, 34 and 63 licenses.
Michael J. Dugan
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Dugan has more than thirty years of experience in the financial services sector, having joined DriveWealth in July 2012 from TAB Networks, Inc. and AlgoPartners, LLC, where he served as a C-level consultant to the CEO. Prior to consulting, Mr. Dugan served for more than three years as Chief Administrative Officer for FX Solutions LLC, a New Jersey-based Forex Dealer Member of the National Futures Association specializing in retail, over-the-counter foreign exchange and derivative products. Mr. Dugan served for twenty-one (21) years at Prudential Equity Group LLC, as both the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. In those roles he was responsible for the financial and administrative functions of numerous Prudential business units, including Investment Banking, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Sales and Trading, and Equity Research. During his last four years at Prudential, Mr. Dugan was also the Financial and Operations Principal (FinOp) for Prudential’s NYSE-member broker-dealer. Prior to joining Prudential, Mr. Dugan served as Controller at First Rock Financial Corporation in New York, and also worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. He received a B.S. from Lehigh University with a dual major in Accounting and Finance. Mr. Dugan is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey (AICPA, NJSCPA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute, NYSSA). He holds FINRA/NFA Series 3, 7, 24, 27, 34, 55, 63 and 99 licenses.
Chief Information Officer, DriveWealth Technologies LLC
Mr. Temkin has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services sector. Prior to joining DriveWealth in May 2015, Mr. Temkin was Chief Executive Officer and Partner of KnowVera LLC, a startup financial software company, which combines leading-edge technology with a patented quantitative trading strategy design and implementation tool, proprietary charts, data and analysis. KnowVera provides decision-support analytics for identifying, evaluating and capitalizing on market opportunities.
Prior to joining KnowVera in April 2013, Mr. Temkin served in numerous senior management roles at Reuters and Thomson Reuters. He was Executive Vice President and Global Head of Equity Product Development for the company’s flagship product, Thomson Reuters Eikon. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President and Head of Exchange Traded Instruments, Americas. Mr. Temkin joined Reuters in April 2001 as Executive Vice President of Equity Product Development for the Investment Banking and Brokerage Customer Segment. In this role he was directly responsible for the development of the global sell-side Equities strategy. In March 2003, Mr. Temkin was made Executive Vice President, Head of Desktop – Reuters Station, with responsibility for the design and marketing strategy of the current and next generation premium desktops. In January 2006, Mr. Temkin was made Executive Vice President, Institutional Sales and Trading, with responsibility for working with Reuters’ top North American Buy-Side accounts, to build customized analytical solutions. During Mr. Temkin’s career at Reuters and Thomson Reuters he managed businesses with revenues ranging from $350m to over $1b, and during his two year tenure managing buy-side accounts his team grew revenues for those accounts by 26% two years consecutively.
Prior to joining Reuters, Mr. Temkin worked for Bridge Information Systems where he served as Executive Vice President from 1998-2001, and was responsible for the design of Bridge’s core products, BridgeFeed, BridgeStation and BridgeChannel, and oversaw the effort to integrate multiple workstation applications of the Bridge divisions. Mr. Temkin joined Bridge in 1991 as an Institutional Salesman, and later served as Vice President and Manager of New York Institutional Sales from 1994-1997.
Prior to joining Bridge, Mr. Temkin was an Institutional salesman at County NatWest Securities.
Mr. Temkin was a Director of the BATS Stock Exchange based in Lenexa, KS from 2008 to 2015. He served as the Lead Director of the Exchange Board and as the Chairman of the Regulatory Oversight Committee.
Mr. Temkin graduated Cum Laude from Hobart College with a BA in Economics and Mathematics, and was elected to Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics and Phi Beta Kappa.
V. Michael Fitzgerald
Head of Corporate Strategy
Mr. Fitzgerald has over 20 year of experience in corporate finance and strategic advisory services. Prior to joining DriveWealth, Mr. Fitzgerald was Managing Member of VMF Advisors LLC, a strategic advisory firm. Mr. Fitzgerald was previously CEO and co-Head of Investment Banking for Madison Williams LLC from 2009-2011. Prior to Madison Williams, Mr. Fitzgerald was Head of M&A and Financial Sponsors from 2004-2009 at SMH Capital, a publicly traded financial services firm. Prior to SMH Capital, Mr. Fitzgerald was a Founder and Managing Director of Crest Partners, a venture capital and advisory firm focused on the telecommunications and technology markets. Prior to founding Crest, Mr. Fitzgerald was an investment banker at Smith Barney Inc. Mr. Fitzgerald received a B.A. from Georgetown University.
Chief Compliance Officer
Mark joined DriveWealth in February 2017 after working for NYSE Regulation and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for over 10 years, where he was a Director in FINRA’s New York District Office. During his time at FINRA, Mark worked extensively on the areas of investment banking, cybersecurity, conflicts of interest and was a primary contributor in developing FINRA’s risk based regulatory surveillance and examination programs. He holds a BA in Economics from Bowdoin College.
Head of Partnerships & Business Development
Mr. Smedley’s 25 year career in global expansion consulting, operations and sales led him to DriveWealth in August 2012. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Smedley provided advisory services to start-up financial firms, sourced a diverse range of worldwide alternative investment opportunities, guided US firms’ international growth and generated foreign direct investment for several European governments during his tenure with Global Conexions, a business introductions agency he founded in 2000. There, he managed operations for a variety of companies focused on asset management, hedge funds, mutual funds and a venture capital introduction firm. Mark prepared Chinese industrial groups to seek funding in Western capital markets, in this capacity he advised a shipyard, a bauxite mining company and a real estate development project. He also represented the country of Sweden, the cities of Barcelona, Manchester and Torino in addition to regions in Germany and France to attract U.S. based Fortune 500 companies to those locations.
In his previous role as VP of Sales for North America at Telecom Ireland, Mark cooperated with the Irish government to establish Ireland as the premier location for European-based facilities. He was also responsible for Japanese accounts during his tenure at MCI Telecommunication.
Mark graduated from Allegheny College with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
